Just when you thought blogging couldn't get any better

There is a very private blogger out there who has done the most wonderful thing for me. Delivered to me at the store, in the middle of a regular work day, by her soaking wet husband...was a lovely bag, with a stamped wheel barrow on it. Inside were seeds. White patty pan seeds. I LOVE white patty pan squash. There was also a bag of her own saved seeds. Okay...that would have been enough. More than enough. But, in the bottom of the bag was an adorable short canning jar with a jute cord and label identifying it as Tomato Jam. I mean really, how often in your life, does something like that happen? I cracked open the jam right after supper. Allan and I each took a spoon and had about half a teaspoon each. Just to try it of course. It is sweet and after the sweet, comes a spicy/hot whisper of flavor. I have never understood what people meant when the describe a flavor as complex. Now I know. I have no idea how it's made, but I'll probably spend many an autumn trying to create something akin to this epicurean delight.
I can certainly see how foodies get addicted to the search for new tastes.
Thank you B, more appreciated than you will ever know.

Having jam today puts the icing on the cake???
I wonder if the tang in the jam was imparted by a chilli or two.

Dear Erin, Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. Garden bloggers really are the BEST! I bet your friend will give you the jam recipe -- then I hope you share it with us. P. x

Oh you are most welcome. It was just a pleasure to share some of the tomato jam with you, tomatoes from our own kitchen garden. The wet one really enjoyed his visit meeting you both, as well. Your kind words are most appreciated Erin. Thank you.

ps..the jam is best as a condiment, a little on top of a cracker and cheese, as it is sweet and meant to be, but with hot chilli and spices as well.

Hi Mark!! If you read the Gardeningbren moment, you will see that you are absolutely correct!! An yes it was the icing on the cake.
Hello Jane. Yes, blog friends are a kind and generous lot. I am so SOOOO thankful to Blotanical, glitches and all, for all the wonderful people I've met. I really didn't see that coming. I thought I'd simply get to read gardening blogs. Cuz I'm totally addicted to gardening. An then I find that yes, you are all the most sharing and lovely people. I guess it does make sense when you think about it. Why do we garden? To share beauty and/or food with the people around us.
Hi Pam...I did mention to The Captain when he brought the present to me, that I think GB could easily have people like us fly in, and learn in her kitchen from her as she puts up food, makes jam etc. I admit I'm hard pressed to think of why she would want a bunch of green crazy bloggers in her lovely kitchen mucking the place up...although, we could be a few extra sets of hands. Just sayin'.
Hello GB. I think you and wet one are right. I tried a little on cream cheese last night and it was amazing!! WO suggested a sharp cheese. That would be perfect. I am going to pick some up. Thanks again!!

Noticed that autocorrect changed comment to moment. Darn you autocorrect.
Just noticed another. Green crazy bloggers should be garden crazy bloggers. Hahaha.

Erin this is a lovely post, it's so heartwarming to see that someone took the time to make your day! I'm a firm believer in good karma so I'm thinking that this probably couldn't have happened to a nicer person! Enjoy your relish, it sounds delicious!
