The stupidest bean question ever.

As you all know, I had not had a bean in about 45 years or so. I am more than making up for it now. I am loving them. But, I have a question. Can anyone tell me why the beans squeak against my teeth? I know I am risking a lot saying that right out loud, but I'd really like an answer.

Erin, Squeaky just means they are fresh and not over cooked. Cook em till they are soft and they won't squeak. Nor will they taste like delicious fresh beans.

I have no idea why but some varieties are squeakier than others.

I never gave this much thought until now. Did you notice that they squeak more when cold than hot? I just did beans today and now I wonder why the blanching water turns that pinkish color. You didn't really think you are all that different did you?

I never noticed this but when I got to thinking about it, you are right. They do squeak against our teeth. Especially canned beans.

Hi Becky..I didn't notice but hot for sure. I thought it was my crowns. I have a few. Then my husband said they were squeaky. One of those moments where you think thank god, it's not just me. My blanching water didn't turn pink though. That sounds pretty cool.
