Summer Salad. Remember when we ate like this every day !

We had a family barbecue this summer and this was the salad I made. I had forgotten how pretty they are. The days will be getting longer very soon.
On the topic of summer, I received my Westcoast Seed Catalogue today. I know what I'll be reading this weekend.

Very pretty salad, Erin. The flowers really lift it into a new league. I note that some of them appear to be Pansies. Is it safe to assume that ALL Pansies are edible?

Thank you Mark. You make such beautiful food, I appreciate the compliment. There are lots of little violas, nasturtiums and chive blossoms that you pull apart and they make the nicest slight onion flavor and they are pretty, I think all pansies and violas are edible.

Almost (but not quite) too pretty to eat.

A beautiful example of food which is pleasing to the eye as well as to taste :)

In answer to Mark's question - violas and pansy flowers are all edible, but we found earlier this year (various people involved in my salad blogging project) that there was a lot of variety in taste.
