Alpaca poop. The Rolls Royce of the manure world.

I have been reading a lot about manure this winter. My gardens just didn't produce last year so I've come to the conclusion that the soil is very dead. So in addition to adding manure I am going to get my soil tested. We have a place in Sidney to get the testing done. How convenient.
My research is complete and the manure buying has commenced!!
I found some alpaca poop or beans. It is the Rolls Royce of the poo world. It doesn't smell at all. No weeds, no seeds and best of all, you can use it immediately. No aging. The alpacas are much loved and spoiled and that is so important to me. I will treasure their little 'beans' As I spread them around this weekend.
Also, I have been bringing small amounts of horse manure home. It is organic and from much loved and spoiled horses..it is also free. I have started a small pile beside the house to let it age. It really doesn't smell either.

Close up of poop.

Free..I like free!! As far as alpaca manure goes, I know nothing of it, so will be interested to see how your garden grows this year. Your enthusiasm is wonderful to read.

If only you could visit near me I could introduce you to lagoon aged cow manure. It has a fragrant bouquet that clears your sinuses in just a few seconds. It's funny but it makes me miss the old fashioned aroma of plain out cow patties. I remember it as more pleasant and fresher somehow. You are right about the alpacas. It is the good stuff!!!

I was spreading some alfalfa the other day. I thought, OMG where have I smelled that before. Then I remembered being at my aunts and uncles farms when I was little. It smelled like the barns. So I assume that some of the animals must have it as feed or bedding? I can't recall. But, ahhhhh, the power of the sense of smell. It can take you right back.

Thank you. To me, life seems at times like one long comedy routine.

I am considering using Alpaca manure in my garden but I have a concern about the feed (2nd cutting orchard grass) possibly having been treated with herbicide or pesticide. Do you have any suggestions for me on this issue? Thank you!
