We had a family barbecue this summer and this was the salad I made. I had forgotten how pretty they are. The days will be getting longer very soon.
On the topic of summer, I received my Westcoast Seed Catalogue today. I know what I'll be reading this weekend.
Very pretty salad, Erin. The flowers really lift it into a new league. I note that some of them appear to be Pansies. Is it safe to assume that ALL Pansies are edible?
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark. You make such beautiful food, I appreciate the compliment. There are lots of little violas, nasturtiums and chive blossoms that you pull apart and they make the nicest slight onion flavor and they are pretty, I think all pansies and violas are edible.
ReplyDeleteAlmost (but not quite) too pretty to eat.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful example of food which is pleasing to the eye as well as to taste :)
ReplyDeleteIn answer to Mark's question - violas and pansy flowers are all edible, but we found earlier this year (various people involved in my salad blogging project) that there was a lot of variety in taste.
