Where do you go when it is too cold to be outside? The greenhouse of course.

Owari Satsuma Mandarin

For about 35 years I've had a winter ritual of sorts. I'm in the yard admiring, working or just strolling around. It's winter...so I get cold and head for the greenhouse. It is warm, and humid and just smells so good. Especially when the citrus trees are flowering like they are right now. This past weekend my sister and the best brother-in-law in the world came over to visit. We were working in the yard on a project...and got cold...so we went into the greenhouse to warm up. They were admiring the citrus trees and asked if the little orange tree was a mandarin orange. It is. I picked them each one...and they loved them. The oranges are super juicy and sweet now. They liked them so much it made my day. I grow food because I love to feed people. Nothing, but nothing makes me feel better than someone liking what I feed them, especially when I've grown it myself.
