My daughter-in-law Amanda and I went out with our little ice cream buckets to pick oodles of blackberries. Last year, you could pick a full bucket in about twenty minutes. We were out for a few hours and Amanda got about a half a bucket and I got about a quarter bucket. It was hard to find berries. All I really wanted was enough berries to make a crisp. It is in the oven now. Smells wonderful!!!
|Today's harvest. Look at those enormous carrots!!|
We have thornless blackberries in the yard. They did much better this year. They are in the part of the yard where the chickens were, so maybe the extra fertilizer when they would hide under the bushes helped.
Hi Joan. You are so lucky to have chickens!!! Karen at the store told me that ive missed the blackberry season by about two weeks. Ooppppps. Too late.
I remember blackberry picking with my grandmother years ago. I haven't been in ages. That blackberry crisp looks wonderful! Yum!
Just went out and picked the Best Berries ever, I don't think the season is quite over. Although I will say the Blackberry season started very late this year! Gina
It is really good. The bottom layer has kind of adhered to the pan, but it's still yummy.
Where are you located? Did you have a cool summer?
