My mystery bulbs have been identified!! And planted.

Look over at the far right of this little thicket. See? There are red flowers? While I was working in the yard, I noticed hummingbirds visiting these electric red flowers. The morning the backhoe was coming, I dug up some of these bulbs, having no idea what they were.

I cleaned them off. Aren't they a pretty bulb?! I think they are actually called corms. I love the way they stack on top of each other. So I broke a couple stacks apart and left some. Today I planted some in each of the yards.

Of course I was really curious about what they are. I googled and found this! I believe my bulbs/flowers are Crocosmia 'Lucifer'.

Pictures from the garden. Fruit and other stuff.

Ambrosia apples {we have since picked and eaten these beauties. OMG, they were delicious!!}

Strawberries. Quite a few actually.

Ginkgo now a bright yellow.

I'm worried about this a bit. These are the garlics I planted in September. They shouldn't be coming up until February-March.

The perennial border with a few more things planted. Kind of hard to see though, sorry.

Urban Veg Patch's...the most beautiful I found on the web.

There is nothing more beautiful than a vegetable garden. Especially in the city. It is unexpected and not very common. When I was a child everyone had a fruit tree in the front yard and some sort of vegetable garden. So here is my homage to the urban veggie garden.
