Nice collection, Erin! I'm especially enamoured by the Patty Pan squash, since I seem to have failed completely in my attempt to grow some this year. None of my female flowers has been pollinated. Come on, Boys!
Lovely to see the progress in your garden, Erin. Looks like it's all growing really well. I have strawberries called Rambling Cascade that put out really long runners - I'm wondering if they're the same as yours. I'm growing them along the ground in a raised brick-walled bed and potting up the runners to increase my stock. They do look lovely cascading down, though!
I hi Mark. I am going to make a stuffed pattypan tonight. I can't wait to try it. It seems to me that climate change and losing so many honey bees are taking a toll on vegetable growing. I've been reading comments from all over the world that thing just aren't getting pollinated. I've started hand pollinating...especially tomatoes.
Hi Caro...my strawberries are little Ontario wild strawberries. My aunt Helen who lived in Muskoka area, dug a dozen out of her lawn for me to bring back to the coast. I kept one plant in a pot to ensure they would survive. They all did, they're very tough. I am just loving the garden. It is so beyond fun!!!
Praise to Aunt Helen..they are beautiful Erin..the purple stems...so striking.
As for the pattypans..the first I grew were 'flatter' but as the years passed..they became the shape you have. But, as much as I love them, the little round zukes are my new favourite..more flavor...less seed inside...and the leaves are awesomely beautiful as seen in my blog photo. Switching ;-).
Lots of beans coming now...agreed, the garden is so beyond fun!! it is just a joy.
Ooooooooooooo, tell me more about these round zukes!!
Hi Erin! Great pics! Love the Pattypans!
Hi ladybug. Annette the pattypans pretty. I love them. Haven't quite figured out how to cook them in a way I like. I'm thinking grilling. :-)
