Wow! I smiled at that final caption. It really is so rewarding to be eating the 'leaves' of one's labor. But can the pansy flowers also be eaten?

Hi Andrea. It was a great salad. The pansies are absolutely edible. They are a small variety that seeded from last year. Johnny Jump Ups are also edible. I love chive blossom. You pull the flower heads apart and they make the cutest little tiny lilac colored flowers. Lightly onion flavored. I love flowers in salad. It's so pretty.

Erin, you really have made great strides forward with your vegetable gardening. It seems like only the other day that you were saying "I've never grown anything before", and now look at you!

Thank you Mark. It is so amazing to me. To watch those little beans coming up. And I haven't eaten a bean in about 40 years. I am so anxious to try them. And you and the other bloggers have made it possible. I am trying to get 10 years of gardening experience in one year. I have never had a question go unanswered. I have never been made to feel silly asking newbie questions. I am growing Fortex beans because I asked Gardeningbren if she could recommend a bean. She highly recommended fortex. So I read a bit and found rave reviews all over the place. So Fortex it is. Thank you brenda! I LOVE the blogging community and treasure you all. Thank you for your daily posts Mark. I know how hard that is to keep up.

You are most welcome. Yours look so healthy. Put my fortex transplants in the ground and overnight they were nibbled ;-(

Also put seeds in for a later crop. One can't have too many beans!

I am having trouble with cucumbers. It seems every time they sprout the slugs clear cut them. So...they eat cucumbers, but not the Crookneck Squash Bout three feet away. They eat my zucchini plants and pumpkins, but leave your Pattypan Squash alone. I'll never figure out what goes on in the mind of a slug.

I've been meaning to try more flowers in my salads... So nice to get a meal out of the garden! Congrats on your success!
