Rhubarb and Strawberries. An Ontario classic.

When I was a little girl in Ontario I remember everyone making and loving Rhubarb and Strawberry pie. I have rhubarb stalks almost two inches across and leaves that are two feet by two feet and hundreds of strawberry flowers. I see a pie and maybe preserves in our future. Yummmm.

Your strawberries look amazing! So many flowers, mine only have a few , maybe they are lacking something? Its the first year in the garden, could that be it?

If the berries are one year old, you won't get tons of berries this year. Feed them, Feed them, Feed them!! If you look close you can see the little balls of Alpaca manure around the plants. They have grown so much since I took this picture, they are probably the largest plants I've seen. And the number of flowers and small berries is amazing. My soil is very dead and I haven't been able to grow much in 34 years here. Now I get it!
