Snowberries in the 'Wild Area' |
There is something wonderful about an unexpected sunny day in December. I added some more coffee grounds to the blueberry garden today. I also noticed some little green shoots that look like grass in the heavily mulched strawberry bed. I have a feeling it could be canola shoots from the organic fertilizer I made. I'm going to have to start sifting the canola. The seeds are a bit of a problem.

love the snowberries :-)
your yard looks so neat and orderly, want to come to Florida and help me to get mine in shape? ;-)
Before I commit to going to Florida to help, what is your weather like right now?
:-)
Had to laugh at your comment - very sensible! I lived in Florida as a child and we used to go swimming on Christmas Day! My Mum used to say it was like getting into a warm bath.
Erin, I've left an award for you over on my blog. You're under no pressure to accept it (I realise how busy you are at this time of year) but it's just really to say how much I enjoy reading your blog. Wishing you a happy Christmas, Caro x
Hi Caro. Love you, love your blog. You are so kind. I thinking blogging is one of the most fun things I've done in years. I can't believe how many really wonderful people I've met, and gardeners are so generous with their knowledge. Wow. Thank you.
Hi, Erin! Hope you don't mind if I ask what those coffee grounds for? Happy holidays!
Hi Hardinars. I just wrote out a huge detailed response, but it wouldn't post and I lost it. Grrrrr.
Bottom line...the coffee grounds are a soil conditioner for my clay and they are acidic, so I'm building up a blueberry bed thick with the grounds, using them on my azaleas and lastly will be my huge thirty year old rhodo at the front. All acid loving.
Happy gardening and Merry Christmas!!
